Volvo Group has purchased a land plot to build their own Truck Center in DAMU, the first private industrial logistic zone of the Republic of Kazakhstan

MOSCOW, February 22, 2022 – Volvo Group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of commercial vehicles and transport solutions, has purchased a 2.5 ha land plot in the territory of DAMU, the first private industrial logistic zone of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the construction of a new service center in Kazakhstan. The JLL international company has become a consultant for this transaction.

It is planned to build a new service center for Volvo trucks, with a total area of 2 thousand sq. m., in the DAMU industrial logistic zone located in the industrial center of Ile District, 7 km from Almaty city. The project will be implemented according to the statement of work of Volvo Group on a turnkey basis, with all the necessary utilities and additional equipment. Innovative engineering and modern design solutions will be used in the site construction that meet the international standards of the Swedish concern Volvo. Investments in the project implementation will be about 450 million rubles.

Radif Khasanov, Managing Director of Volvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan: “The Kazakhstan market is developing rapidly, and it is of strategic importance to improve the services provided to our clients in this region. Proximity to our customers in the republic and carriers from the neighboring countries with high demand for Volvo products is of prime importance for us. The concept of our Truck Center suggests placement of the whole range of services of our company – consulting, sales, leasing, maintenance – in one place. That is why we carefully selected a new site in terms of location, area, construction quality, and tight project schedule”.

Gulmira Kurakbayeva, Manager of the industrial team of DAMU “We can see much interest in the Kazakhstan market from large manufacturers and retailers who in the last two years have formed an unimplemented demand for high-quality logistics and other real estate objects. DAMU is the unique, only and largest project for the development of private industrial zone in Kazakhstan, and it allows us to solve this problem. Due to the favorable location along the key transport junctions, high quality of the provided services, modern warehouses, developed engineering infrastructure, our industrial zone is convenient for employees, residents, and partners. We are sure that the project for the construction of a service center for Volvo trucks in the Republic of Kazakhstan will be successful. We express our unaffected joy and wish success to our partners”.

Evgeniya Sawyers, Director of the Warehouse and Industrial Premises Department of JLL: “At the moment, the demand for warehouse and industrial real estate in Kazakhstan exceeds the supply, and the level of high-quality vacant space in this segment is no more than 2%. That is why companies that need new sites for the development of logistics infrastructure, including service centers for large car manufacturer, have to negotiate the construction of buildings in the built-to-suit format. The first private industrial logistic zone DAMU offers such opportunities for investors. The interest of large companies in this cluster is due to both the developed infrastructure and the strategic location of the site at the intersection of key highways, in close proximity to the Western Europe-Western China transport junction, 300 km from the border with China, and only 7 km from Almaty city”.

The first private industrial logistic zone DAMU with a total area of 210 ha, is located in the area most in demand among tenants and buyers of land plots in the area between the republican highways and near the airport of Almaty. The main residents of the park are large international companies, such as Leroy Merlin, Henkel, Samsung, Bosch, Toyota, Scania, Karcher, LC Waikiki, Danone, Wilo, DHL, Volvo, etc. A specific feature of the first private industrial logistic zone DAMU is the owner's willingness to work with various formats, including built-to-suit projects of any complexity, as well as to offer for rent and for sale ready-made warehouse, administrative and production facilities with all the necessary infrastructure, including a railway line, utilities and electrical power.
